What is a green card?
15 March 2019
We know there are a lot of questions at the moment around green cards - do you need one? where can I travel to and how long for? etc so we have put together a brief overview of where things are.
First of all, a green card is simply proof of insurance - there is no change to your insurance policy.
What about Brexit?
As your insurance broker, we are reviewing the Brexit developments on a regular basis and will update this status accordingly should the landscape change further in coming days and weeks.
Currently in the event of a ‘No Deal’ Brexit, all customers with a UK registered vehicle must have proof of insurance, called a Green Card, to drive in the Republic of Ireland or elsewhere in the EU.
If there is a no-deal Brexit, as your insurance broker, will be issuing Green Cards to customers on behalf of our panel of insurers, should you require one.
We will review the Green card procedures as set by your specific insurer and advise accordingly what documentation may be required in advance of your travel.
