Pupils at the school have been completing a specially commissioned colouring competition and word search which highlight the dangers of the road and how young people can take steps to stay safe. Autoline visited both schools this week to distribute high- visibility jackets as part of the campaign and they are looking forward to rolling out the programme to other areas.
Michael Blaney, Managing Director of Autoline Insurance Group said, “We are delighted to be visiting schools in south Down to highlight the dangers that children face on the roads. We are keen to engage with teachers and pupils to establish how much young people actually know about road safety and how we can help them to learn in a fun way.”
Michael continued, “We are very keen to assist schools with this type of educational programme. If children understand the potential dangers of the road when they are young they will hopefully be more responsible drivers and road users when they are older.”
Bernie Curry, Vice Principal, St. Mary’s PS said, “We always welcome support from companies who are committed to working with us on important elements of our curriculum. Road Safety is an essential part of our teaching and we are delighted that Autoline have made the commitment to encourage Road Safety with our pupils.”
